Today, we decided to visit a classic spot in Samaná: The El Limón Waterfalls. Funny enough, I was convinced I’d been there before, but it turns out I hadn’t—probably just seen too many pictures of it! The adventure begins with a choice: a relaxed horseback ride or a leisurely 30-minute walk along a slightly slippery and winding path leading to the national park entrance (Fee: 50 pesos). There are several starting points to choose from, and Nicole opted for Casa Nega.

We arrived at the waterfall at the perfect moment and were lucky enough to have it almost entirely to ourselves. It was pure bliss to take a refreshing dip in the river without the usual crowds. Honestly, waterfalls can sometimes be overhyped, but not this one—it’s truly breathtaking.

Instead of backtracking, we chose the slightly longer route toward El Limón, which involved crossing the river several times along the way. Along the path, we stumbled upon a charming mountain bar perched on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the waterfall and the surrounding rolling landscape. When we reached Parada El Palito, one of us volunteered to take a quick 10-minute motoconcho ride to fetch the car.
