The Happy Hiker group enjoyed its first outing to Bonao, where ten members gathered for a scenic hike. Following a warm welcome from their guide, Warly, they adapted to rainy conditions by choosing a gentler trail along the “El Sonador” River. The day concluded with a traditional Dominican lunch, fostering camaraderie.
Philippe sought a peaceful hike around Zermatt, opting for Täschalp to Täschhütte, savoring isolated trails with stunning views of the Weisshorn and Täschhorn. Despite tricky paths and variable weather, the experience remained rewarding. Returning along the river, they encountered hunters and climbers, culminating in a unique connection to nature.
The trail from Täschalp to Winkelmatten offers breathtaking views of the Weisshorn and Matterhorn. Philippe and I previously hiked it toughly, but this time took a bus, enjoying sunshine and fewer hikers. We met fellow travelers from Australia and relished the scenic villages, sandwiches, and a terrace drink along the way.

In Zermatt, we enjoyed a refreshing walk through Gorner Schlucht, appreciating its dramatic beauty anew. Afterward, we stopped at Blatten restaurant for apricot cake and hot tea. A conversation with the owner provided insights into the changing tourism landscape in Zermatt, enriching our experience of this picturesque town.
