Philippe proposed a week-long dance trip to Mallorca with 200 Swiss participants. Initially skeptical, we embraced the experience, hiking first and then attending daily dance classes in various styles. While overwhelming, the trip enriched our skills, particularly in body movement. Now back home, we aim to refine our newly acquired techniques.
Today we transferred from Port de Sóller to our dance venue, enjoying a leisurely exploration of the town despite cloudy weather. Highlights included a spectacular sea viewpoint, narrow alleys, a hidden garden, and a small cliff adventure. We then took a scenic drive to Palma, where we exchanged our car for dance shoes.
Camí de s’Arxiduc is a stunning ridge walk near Valldemossa, tracing a historic trail by Archduke Ludwig Salvator. The journey features a steep climb through olive groves, revealing breathtaking views of the coastline and Tramuntana mountains. Afterward, refreshments and almond cake were enjoyed in Valldemossa’s main square.
The journey to Formentor’s lighthouse in northern Mallorca was bustling, with heavy tourist traffic and cyclists navigating narrow roads. Due to the crowding, access will be restricted from mid-May. Seeking tranquility, we moved to Cala Figuera, where we enjoyed a serene picnic interrupted by an inquisitive goat.

A quiet evening in Sóller transformed into chaos as we stumbled into the loud festival of Es Firó, celebrating the town’s victory over a Turkish invasion. Streets were packed with crowds and firecrackers, leaving us overwhelmed and photo-less, having arrived from the serene ambiance of Switzerland, completely unprepared for the festivities.
