We went to visit that beautiful and calm place in the middle of Kanazawa. This second time for me, I felt an immense calm in the surrounding gardens or sitting in the house looking at those “borrowed landscapes”.

The architectural concept of “borrowed landscape”, also known as “shakkei” in Japanese, is a design principle that incorporates elements from the surrounding environment into the design of a garden or landscape. This technique creates the illusion that the garden extends beyond its actual boundaries, seamlessly blending the garden with the natural scenery beyond it.
