Eihei-ji Temple

Eihei-ji Temple is located near Yasuko’s home and, for various reasons, it has become a favorite temple for almost everyone we’ve visited Japan with, including Luca. One notable feature is its use of “borrowed landscape”, where the surrounding natural scenery is harmoniously incorporated into the garden’s design, enhancing the sense of tranquility and connection with nature.

Eihei-ji Temple serves as a center for rigorous Zen practice and training. The temple complex, nestled in a serene forested area, encompasses numerous historic buildings and beautiful gardens, reflecting traditional Japanese architecture and design. Eihei-ji’s serene environment and its emphasis on meditation and mindfulness attract practitioners and visitors from around the world, making it a significant site for both religious devotion and cultural appreciation.
