Today we went for a walk in Yasuko’s hometown, Mikuni. We drove to the seaside, parked the car and started to walk towards Tōjimbō, one of the touristic highlights of the area, a dramatic stretch of rugged basalt cliffs that have been shaped by sea erosion over millions of years. These sheer cliffs, rising as high as 30 meters, extend for about a kilometer along the coast and offer breathtaking views of the Sea of Japan.
We continued waling towards Oshima, a pretty island with an iconic red bridge over the sea. But not before going for a nice meal in one of our favorite restaurants, Ootoku.
Then, full of energy, we walked on to that picturesque island known for its natural beauty and cultural significance. Connected to the mainland by a charming red bridge, Oshima offers a peaceful escape with its lush greenery, scenic trails, and stunning coastal views. The island is home to the Oshima Shrine, which is dedicated to the sea gods and has been a site of worship for centuries, attracting visitors seeking spiritual solace. With its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful landscapes, Oshima provides a delightful retreat for those looking to experience a quieter side of Japan.
