Exploring Täschalp to Zermatt: Stunning Views Await

Täschalp 2157m – Tuftern – Sunnegga – Findeln – Winkelmatten 1672m

Philippe and I had walked this trail a few years ago when I did the famous Haute Route. Back then, we hiked all the way from Täsch (1449m) up to Täschalp (2157m), and it was seriously tough! This time, though, we took the Alpen bus, and in just 20 minutes, we were at the top without breaking a sweat. What a difference!

The weather had done a total 180 from yesterday, and we were lucky to have sunshine and a bright blue sky. This trail offers some amazing views of the Weisshorn and the Matter Valley, and when we started, it felt like we had the entire path to ourselves—there were hardly any other hikers around. As we got closer to Zermatt, the Matterhorn started to come into view, looking as stunning as always.

More hikers and mountain bikers began to show up along the way, and we even ran into three Australians from Melbourne who were doing the Haute Route too. They told us they had walked through a blizzard on Augustboden just two days ago, which sounded wild!

We stopped at a sunny viewpoint to eat our sandwiches (seems like we’re living off bread and cheese these days!), and later had a drink at a terrace restaurant in Tuftern. The little villages in Findeln were so picturesque, and the walk all the way to the end was just perfect.
