Grouse Mountain – Vancouver’s Home Mountain

Today we decided to go for the Vancouver’s house mountain, Grouse Mountain (1’127m), which is towering over the whole downtown.

We are hikers, but yet, we did not go for the notorious Grouse Grind, a vertical ascent of 1200 meters. Without shame we took the easy way 🙂 The Skyride gondola swept us to the summit in 15 minutes. The top was a bit too much of an amusement park-like for our taste, but we have to admit that the bird show was quite entertaining with a great presenter.

To get a better sense of the mountain, we spontaneously opted to hike to Mt. Dam. It was quite uphill and reminded Philippe of the excruciating uphill hike in Costa Rica.

In one hour we reached the top of Mt. Dam, rewarded by a great view of the city of Vancouver as well as Vancouver Island.

Back in town, we had an early dinner at Gyoza Bar, which offers an interesting interpretation of Gyozas…
