Giant Cedars Boadwalk, Revelstoke National Park

A walk through the deep temperate rainforest with thousands of giant cedar trees. Some of them are said to have over 500 years old. It reminded us of another beautiful forest of Yakushima, Japan, one of our favorite places.

Astonishingly some trees are standing over 100 years even after they die.  They become an important home for plants, birds, and insects, and play a vital role in the forest. After many years, they fall down and become “nurse logs” to help the forest’s ecosystem further. We could see such massive fallen trees in the forest. It is just amazing what nature does.
