Paula, our Brazilian-Swiss friend from Barcelona, came to stay with us for two nights. Our question, whether she would like to go for a small hike was answered positive, so we chose a very nice and easy hike not knowing that this would be Paula’s first hike – ever. With my sister Nicole joining, we had a nice “Brazilian-Swiss-Japanese” group hiking off near the Etzelpass.
Not only was this the first time to hike, but also the first time sampling Rivella and eating Rösti. We first thought that Paula was joking, given that she lived in Switzerland for a couple of years, but no…
It was a beautiful, sunny day. We started the easy path up to a great view point called Stöcklichrüz (1’246 m) with a sweeping view of Lake Zurich, Lake Pffäffikon and the Greifensee in the north and Lake Zug in the south! Even for us “habitué” it was quite a scenery.
Luckily, Yasuko’s spare hiking shoes fitted Paula perfectly.

On the way back we enjoyed a late lunch with typical Swiss dishes.
And by the end of the day Paula even agreed to go for a week long hike with Yasuko along the shores of Lake Geneva, which used to be home for Paula as well as us for many years. And it is also where we met Paula and Martin who departed much too early this summer.
