Glatt Route 29 – Part I

42 km, 3.5h, Eglisau – Rheinsfelden – Glattfelden – Bülach – Niederglatt – Opfikon – Schwammedingen – Zoo Zurich – Zurich Tiefenbrunnen

Today we biked the official, superbly marked Swiss bike route, Glatt-Route 29. We cycled aside the River Glatt, which flows from Greifensee all the way to the River Rhein. The winding riverside bike path is very peaceful and surprisingly even when crossing busy towns or passing by the airport.

We wanted to cover all the Glatt Route (a total of 64 km) but we started late and very reasonable Philippe reminded me that we would get to the end in Rapperswil in the dark. So right before the Greifensee we turned up the Zürichberg to the Zoo. That was a bit more uphill than what we are used to and made us push our bikes for a while. But on the other side, we enjoyed a very nice downhill ride through some quarters of Zurich unknown to us. At Tiefenbrunnen, we decided to take the train back home.

We would for sure do the other half of the route soon. A new discovery again in Zurich!
