Playa Lanza del Norte – Punta las Canas – Playita Honda – Playa Las Canas (back and forth)
This morning we continued our “walking project”, with the ultimate and probably illusionary goal to walk around the Samana Peninsula.

Playa Estillero to Playa Morrón, 2h, 7km
My sister-in-law Nicole and I had the idea to walk the Samana Peninsula little by little, eventually covering the entire peninsula.
Philippe joined us for the stretch from Playa Estillero to Playa Morrón. Unknown even to Nicole, we decided to take the sketchy details from Google Map as a base and play it by ear. Hiking paths, as I am used to in Switzerland seem to be rare, but in essence, we just have to follow the shoreline.

This year, we spend a few days in Santo Domingo before moving on to Las Terrenas. On the morning of our first day, with the generous help of the jetlag, we got up early and visited the showroom of a company producing typical Dominican tiles called Aguayo. We have an idea how to bring a bit of DR to CH.

We made a nostalgic trip back to Lausanne, which was our home for almost 10 years.
The purpose of this trip was to see our nephew, who has started his study at EPFL this autumn. But, of course, Yasuko will never miss an opportunity to combine anything with a walk, so we tightened our hiking shoes and started to follow the famous “Route de Vignoble”. While living here, we walked and biked this area numerous times. The vineyards are of stunning beauty.
Route: Alp Lompbach 1559m – Augstmatthorn 2137m – Suggiture – Harder Kulm 1322m11km, 700m up, 1000m down
On a sunny autumn day we went for the fantastic Brienzer ridge hike known for its trulry amazing views.
we took the Alpenbus from Interlaken to Lompbach, and arrive at the trailhead with a bunch of fellow hikers. The bus driver was kind enough to point out the freezing temperature, but made us hopeful by quoting the weather forecast for the day. Blue sky. So without hesitation, we started to walk on the still frozen path, to support the heat still within our body.

It’s a pretty technical and fun way to improve your model glider flying technique. The competition took place at the Hahnenmoospass, with great weather and good wind conditions. To my own surprise, I was able to take the 4hth place. Happy.

A big “thank you” to those which keep the F3F Swiss Pilots alive and organized the championship.

Tonight we participated in the tour by the Plan Lumière department of Zurich City. They design city lights, creating an identity of the city by illuminating historical buildings with soft light, but at the same time not beaming light into the night sky uselessly and reducing light pollution. It was our second time to participate in this city light tour and we loved especially the lighting of the new pedestrian bridge over the Zurich train station!

Paula, our Brazilian-Swiss friend from Barcelona, came to stay with us for two nights. Our question, whether she would like to go for a small hike was answered positive, so we chose a very nice and easy hike not knowing that this would be Paula’s first hike – ever. With my sister Nicole joining, we had a nice “Brazilian-Swiss-Japanese” group hiking off near the Etzelpass.
